Female workers on their way to an uncertain retirement future will be subject of a public webcast organized by the Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

"Taking the Mystery Out of Retirement Planning: A Focus on Women & Retirement," which will take place from 1 to 2:15 p.m., has been designed to provide a female-centered focus on retirement issues, especially for women who are 10 to 15 years away from retirement age.

For many women, retirement planning remains a complete mystery, especially as women live longer than men, tend to make less money than men and can have their family's retirement plans complicated by widowhood and divorce.

The webcast will also include representation from the Social Security Administration, outlining the scope of existing Social Security benefits and the advantages that exist for many women to delay drawing those benefits, guaranteeing a longer stream of Social Security.
