After scoring 100 percent in the Human Rights Campaign's 2013 Corporate Equality Index, The Hartford has been named as a Best Place to Work for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equality.
"We are thrilled to be named a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality," says Marty Gervasi, executive vice president of human resources at The Hartford. "Diversity and inclusion, which is a core value within our organization, enables us to attract, develop and retain top talent. We are committed to ensuring our workplace programs and policies are competitive in today's marketplace, and we aspire to create an environment that values the backgrounds, skills and experiences that each of our employees brings to the workplace."
In an effort to support its diverse work force, The Hartford offers seven employee resource groups that establish partnerships and initiatives that focus on a diversity and inclusion strategy. For example, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Organization Benefiting Everyone, which is one of the seven employee resource groups, promotes the growth and development of its members and allies through LGBT awareness, networking and business practices.
