According to a survey by human resources consulting firm Effective Resources Inc., unemployment in Florida remains high at 8.1 percent, above the national average of 7.8 percent, based on numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The survey also finds that the average turnover rate for Florida is again at 2.2 percent, marking a slightly higher rate from last year's number of 2 percent.
Seventy-eight percent of respondents say they saw an increase in their medical insurance premiums totaling to 10 percent or less. Florida's predicted merit percentage of 2.9 percent on average ended up hitting 2.8 percent this year.

Another 93 percent of respondents report having full-time employees who usually work 40-hour weeks. As the new regulations from health care reform go into effect, more benefits should be offered to employees working at least 30 hours a week, which could cause employers to alter their employee budgets this year.
"Our data has become progressively more important year by year," says Barry Brown, president of Effective Resources. "We are honored to deliver our 12 annual salary and benefits survey for Florida."
