What do Americans want from their tax dollars? Affordable health care, for one.

If Americans could choose how the government spends their tax dollars, they'd designate affordable health care (38 percent) as the top priority, according to a new tax survey released by TD Ameritrade.

The desire for more affordable health care also increases with age, the survey finds. While 35 percent of Gen Y most want affordable health coverage, 38 percent of Gen X and 44 percent of baby boomers say the same.
