As hiring efforts have been made toward employing active-duty servicemen and women, reservists and veterans, multiple career paths through various industries have opened, according to a new report by CareerCast.com.

Among the top positions suited for military veterans are telecommunications equipment installer, industrial production manager, ship engineer and construction program manager, the report finds. Other top jobs include software developer, training and development manager, industrial production manager, administrative sales manager, industrial engineering technician, train engineer and operator, and heavy tractor-trailer truck driver.

Of the respondents who enlisted after 9/11, the unemployment rate surpasses 10 percent. This is above the national rate of 7.9 percent, based on figures from the U.S. Department of Labor.
