Republicans in Congress once more trying to help benefits brokers who fear that Obamacare will put them out of business.
Two bills introduced by Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., are consistent with actions in 34 states aimed at ensuring their licensed agents and brokers are protected by requiring navigators to follow stringent rules in discussing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act with consumers.
The two pieces of legislation — introduced as Congress left for its five-week summer recess in early August — effectively seek to require states, mostly large ones with big urban populations, to follow the same rules agents have been getting legislatures in conservative states to enact.
