The certification program for retirement advisors created last year by The American College of Financial Services is the fastest growing in the school's history.
More than 3,000 licensed advisors and insurance agents have registered to take online classes to receive the Retirement Income Certified Professional designation, the school announced.
The curriculum offered by the 87-year-old nonprofit school includes three college-level courses: Retirement Income Process, Strategies and Solutions; Sources of Retirement Income; and Managing the Retirement Income Plan.

The college created the program with an eye toward helping advisors better work with the aging population.
Two other groups – the International Foundation for Retirement Education and the Retirement Income Industry Association – have offered similar programs since 1999 and 2010, respectively. The number of enrollees in those two programs is far smaller than that of The American College.
