Orange might be the new black, but don't even think about wearing it to a job interview.

While only the truly sartorially challenged might even consider it, the folks at CareerBuilder took a look at the question of what colors work best and, as you might expect, found employers most often recommended blue (23 percent) and black (15 percent).

Orange topped the list for the worst color (25 percent of employers) and was the color most likely to be associated with someone who is unprofessional.

Certain colors were linked with certain attributes.

For example, black was associated with leadership, blue signified a team player, gray indicated a logical or analytical type, and brown was seen as dependable.

Go for red if you're interested in imparting power, or white for those hoping to extol their highly organized minds.

Green, yellow, orange and purple were all associated with creative.

CareerBuilder offered a few tips to dress for success when meeting with a potential employer including sticking with neutrals, avoiding revealing clothing and leaving the wacky ties at home.
