Business has been good for Covered California this week.

Officials say 53,510 people picked plans on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, for a daily average of about 18,000.

Consumers made 13,653 plan selection decisions Monday, 19,351 decisions Tuesday, and 20,506 decisions Wednesday.

The exchange averaged about 20,600 plan selections per day during the week that ended Dec. 7, and just 6,600 selections per day in October and November.

In California, consumers who want to have exchange plan coverage in place Jan. 1 must pick plans by Dec. 23 and pay for coverage by Jan. 10.

Open enrollment period started Oct. 1 and is set to end March 31.
