Looks like UPS customers aren’t the only disappointed consumers looking for refunds this year.
State officials in both Vermont and Massachusetts are so unhappy with CGI, the lead contractor for the beleaguered HealthCare.gov that they’re withholding payment, according to a report in the Boston Globe.
Not only that, but officials from both states are actually considering legal action against the Montreal-based developer, as well.
Based on the Globe report, Massachusetts has only paid $11 million of its $69 million contract, while Vermont is still on the hook for another $5 million.
Additionally, the Globe’s reporting Massachusetts isn’t even using the CGI-developed site anymore.
CGI also has contracts with California, Colorado, Hawaii, Kentucky and New Mexico.
Apparently even embattled Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is considering withholding federal payments, too. She’s already called for an investigation of the website’s development, with a presumed focus on CGI’s role.
