The Obama administration is getting questions about just how many consumers are still trapped in exchange enrollment quicksand.
The issue came up during a White House press briefing.
Reporters asked about word that 22,000 consumers have filed formal requests for appeals, to help them get past exchange enrollment obstacles or correct what they believe are errors in decisions about eligibility or benefits levels.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said millions of people have used the exchanges, and the number who've filed appeals is relatively small when compared with the number of users.
"We are going to get them help," Carney said, according to a briefing transcript.
The administration believes many of the appeals have to do with problems left over from when HealthCare.gov was working poorly, Carney said.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has been reaching out to the people who have filed appeals and has been able to help many of those people by simply having them start over and file fresh applications, Carney said.
