Brokers helped 29 percent of the people who signed up for private coverage through Washington state's exchange during open enrollment.
The brokers advised 42,183 of the 146,497 people who enrolled in coverage through the Healthplanfinder, according to a board presentation handout prepared by Catherine Bailey, an exchange employee.
The brokers also helped 28,848 people enroll in Medicaid through the exchange, but that accounted for just 7 percent of the 403,852 people who used it to sign up for Medicaid.

The state now has 2,155 exchange plan producers, and 1,368 are actively enrolling participants, Bailey said.
The exchange is hoping to register about 1,000 more brokers by the end of the year.
The exchange is holding help session webinars every few weeks, and those are attracting an average of about 80 producers per webinar, Bailey said.
In other board meeting documents, exchange managers said the exchange has:
- Received 1,223 decision appeals and closed all but 188 cases.
- Resolved most of the appeals within 45 days of receipt.
- Provided appeals language support services for 97 cases, for consumers who spoke Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Japanese, Marshallese, Russian, Tigrinya, Tagalog, Amharic, Cambodian, Persian, and two forms of Gujarati.
