A Las Vegas lawyer is trying to organize a class-action lawsuit against the managers of the Nevada public health insurance exchange and a lead vendor.
The lawyer, Matthew Q. Callister, filed a class-action complaint in a state court in Clark County, Nev.
The lead plaintiffs are Lawrence Basich and Lea Swartley. The plaintiffs name the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange and the vendor, a unit of Xerox, as the defendants.

Basich alleged that he bought and paid for coverage through Nevada Health Link – the state-based exchange run by the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange – in November. He said he ended up with $400,000 in unpaid medical bills because the coverage failed to take effect Jan. 1.
Swartley said she ended up with $20,000 in unpaid bills because exchange and plan service problem interfered with her efforts to get commercial coverage.
Exchange reps weren't immediately available for comment.
A representative for Xerox said the company hasn't been served with papers regarding the suit and will respond to the allegations in the appropriate legal venue.
