The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has not yet released data showing whether the HHS-run public health insurance exchanges have sold group health plans to employers.

But, if there are any employers out there that have bought Small Business Health Options Program plans from the HHS-run Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act exchanges, they can use a new billing and payment system guide from the SHOP exchange managers to navigate the billing system.

The guide, developed by the SHOP arm of the HHS exchange network, covers topics such as canceling payments, editing recurring payments and viewing enrollment adjustments as well as basic information about paying bills.

In the section on making payments, for example, officials note that employers can mail checks to a post office box in South Portland, Maine, if they would prefer to pay with a physical check than to pay the premiums online.

If an employer has a failed payment, a SHOP call center representative will call the employer, officials say.
