Account-based health plans have become an integral component of employer health plans and, in all likelihood, their role in health plans will increase in the near term.

Those are the high level takeaways from a survey conducted by health plan technology and services provider Acclaris that collected input from 650 health care professionals. Respondents included representatives of employers and of health plans, with divergent results emerging from the two groups.

Just over half of all respondents said their plans contain some type of ABHP, while 86 percent of health plan respondents said their plans included an ABHP.
