Snagging an award for treating your employees well is one of the best ways to attract top talent

A Gallup survey found that 80 percent of U.S. adults who are either seeking or considering new jobs say they are more likely to consider an organization that has received some type of accolade for being a great place to work. 

Winning such awards enhances what Gallup refers to as the company's employee value proposition (EVP), signaling to potential employees that the employer not only has taken measures to make its workers happy, but views employee happiness as an important part of its brand.

That means that companies should aggressively promote themselves as award-winners in order to entice a strong pool of job applicants. A Gallup analysis suggests that pushing media coverage of the accomplishment, as well as promoting it through paid advertisements and social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook), are all efforts that can reap big rewards. 

"Applying for workplace awards might seem cumbersome and time-consuming, but Gallup's research shows it can give employers a much-needed edge in the competition to land top talent," reports the venerable pollster.
