At a recent conference, researchers from the American Heart Association presented a list of the eight least healthy professions in America.
It's not clear, of course, whether some workers are less healthy because of their jobs or if the workforce that certain jobs attract is less healthy due to other factors, such as socioeconomic conditions.
The study was based on a survey of 5,500 workers above the age of 45. While there were some positive trends overall, including a declining smoking rate, only 41 percent of the overall population was found to have "ideal cardiovascular health."
