What’s the good news, ladies? May edition

This month, I’m going to introduce you to two women who are taking self-improvement and rediscovery to entirely new levels.

Still making it here in NYC!  Not going to lie, it’s really weird here, but as Gramma Ruby Fern would say, “This, too, shall pass.”  Not sure if you got to check out my latest article, “Innovation is Born from Necessity”  in the June issue of BenefitsPro, but I’m pretty proud of it. It features many of the women who have been included in this series as they share on how they are helping their clients and staff during these “interesting” times.  I encourage you to give it a read and have your pen and paper ready, because you will certainly get some great ideas and want to take some notes!

This month, I’m going to introduce you to two women who are taking self-improvement and rediscovery to entirely new levels.  With spring is in full force and serving as a reminder of renewal, it’s great to hear what these women have done!  Please join me in welcoming Heather and Meg to the team.

Heather Torres, CEBS, EHL Insurance

“2019 was a year of self-improvement and reaching goals. My crowning achievement was earning the coveted Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation. It took years of self-motivation and hard work to do. It was one of those goals that you set then tell yourself you have 100 other more important things to do. But it was important to me and so I persevered and completed it. Passing that last exam was so exciting that I was in tears before I even got to the car. That one little thing reminded me that I can do whatever I set my mind to!

The one constant about me is change. I am all about owning my stuff and working to improve myself, the experience, the process, the team, the whatever. If it can be better, then I will work to make it better. My team will agree with that statement!”

Meg McKeen, CIC, Adjunct Advisors, LLC

“Three years ago, I quit what I vowed would be my last job in the insurance industry. My work,my heart and beliefs were totally misaligned. I’d landed in place where I was physically showing up at work, but I had very much checked out.

What followed was a year of self-discovery, growth and perspective – and a curiosity about the change that I’d long believed was needed in the way insurance was sold. I wondered, could you both earn a living selling insurance products and also show up wholly, as your authentic self for your clients?  Was “making deals” the only way to be successful – or could you also make connections? What would that work feel like?

In 2018, I founded Adjunct Advisors, and every day since, I have been inspired by the women I support, who are building their confidence – and their networks.”

Know a woman in our industry who is making an impact?  If so, I’d love to know them, too!  You can just shoot me over an email with their information or feel free to make a virtual introduction at scombs@combsandco.com .  Stay safe (and sane), my friends.
