Despite uncertainty and change worldwide, companies are building tools and products for employers, employees, retirement advisors, brokers, and others. Here’s some of the recent news about products or services dedicated to the employee benefits and retirement industry.

Workplace Options launched “AIR 2.0: Leading in a VUCA World,” a manager training program designed for the present work environment. Offered virtually, it includes interactive sessions featuring case studies tailored to participants. 

Virta Health announced new services including prediabetes reversal, obesity treatment, and provider-led management for type 2 diabetes.

UnitedHealthcare launched a vision program to help people reduce their exposure to blue light, enhanced its eye care benefits, and donated $100,000 to school districts to help buy laptops with blue-light filtering technology.

T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services will launch a suite of student loan resources this fall, including educational tools and content within its financial wellness offering. Plan sponsors will also have the option to include additional offerings.

Smart has launched. Founded in the UK, Smart’s technology is purpose-built for pooled employer plans and the facilitation of lifetime income in retirement plans. Its recordkeeping solution for PEPs will launch in 2021.

Quil — a health care joint venture of Comcast NBCUniversal and Independence Health Group — plans to launch Quil Assure, a platform connecting caregivers with their loved ones. It will include ambient sensors, voice-activated technology, and integrated emergency assistance.

Parento launched a paid parental leave program, in collaboration with Boost Insurance. Employers can offer from 6 to 16 weeks of paid parental leave with 1-on-1 support for parents. 

OneAmerica is offering virtual classes meant to assist financial professionals with yearly continuing education (CE) requirements. Courses are accredited by the National Underwriter Company. To find out more, consult a regional OneAmerica associate.

Lattice launched Grow, a new career development product within the Lattice platform. It incorporates competency matrices and career tracks for employees to navigate their career advancement roadmap. 

IBM Watson Health plans to launch IBM Digital Health Pass, a blockchain solution that is designed to enable users to share their verified health pass without exposing any of the underlying data.

Flimp Communications announced BENEFITchoice, a benefits-assessment tool. It is a sister product to PLANselect, Flimp’s benefits decision-support tool.

City of Hope cancer research and treatment center, announced AccessHope, which partners with employers to provide employees with cancer information and expert clinical decision support including a suite of cancer support services relating to treatment and evaluation.

ChartHop announced new compensation planning features, including centralized people data, eligibility rules, budget pools, streamlined approval workflows, and inequality flags.

BrightBenefits launched a hearing savings program. BrightBenefits members, whether dental or vision, get a free hearing exam and save over 40% on premium hearing aids through the new discount program.

Bind Benefits will offer its personalized health plan on a fully-insured basis to employers with more than 50 employees, launching immediately in Florida, and elsewhere in 2020. The personalized health plan shows people costs in advance of care and provides care options.
