What’s the good news, ladies? January edition

It’s that time of year again when our hopes, dreams and goals are defined for the year! Last year was our company’s best year on record, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what 2022 has in store for us!

It’s that time of year again when our hopes, dreams and goals are defined for the year!  Last year was our company’s best year on record, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what 2022 has in store for us!  One of the things I always plan around are professional development opportunities such as the annual BenefitsPRO Broker Expo conference, where I’ll again be hosting Fast & Furious this year.  And a new one that is on the docket for me that we have had to postpone a couple of times is the California Association of Health Underwriters Women’s Leadership Summit in March, which will be held right outside of Vegas!  If you’ve been looking for a women’s retreat full of great advice and connections, be sure to check it out!  Yours truly will be speaking along with so many other women who have been featured in this series over the years!

The next two women in our series know what it means to put in the time and develop themselves.  They aren’t afraid to push themselves outside of their comfort levels and experience growth on a different level. Please join me in welcoming Nicole and Jennifer to the tribe!

Nicole Kalil, Founder – Woman’s Work LLC

“It has been on my bucket list to write a book for longer than I care to mention, and I FINALLY did it!  As an avid reader, I love the power of books to teach life lessons, educate, and share powerful stories. I also turn to books to learn more about business, relationship building, and self-development.  But did you know that 92% of business books are written by men? Yikes! How was I, as a woman, going to learn to show up as my authentic self, use my unique gifts, and share my feminine talents if I’ve mostly read about how to be a professional from the masculine perspective? So I put my big girl pants on and wrote a book about how women build confidence, and got to apply every one of those lessons to myself along the way. Writing a book is harder than I thought, but I’m so proud I did it.”

Jennifer Spiegel Berman, JD, MBA, MZQ consulting, LLC

“When I started MZQ, the goal was to create an ACA reporting solution. We have certainly beensuccessful in creating a best in class product, but my goal over the past year has been all about creating a comprehensive employee benefits compliance solution for employers of all sizes across the country.  Realizing this goal has taken many forms, from hiring additional in-house compliance experts, like the incomparable Jessica Waltman, to creating new products like our NQTL analysis solution.  I have focused my time and attention on filling the important compliance gaps facing employers today. Acknowledging that this is supposed to be my story, the most important element of our growth has unquestionably been building up a team of dedicated professionals. It is as a team that we’ve been able to realize our goal of being a go-to compliance resource for employers and their advisors nationwide.”
