|The independent provider
Trevor Baker followed in his father's footsteps in becoming a physical therapist (PT). Based in rural Idaho, Baker earned a doctorate in PT, before going into private practice. "I learned a lot about health plans as an independent provider," he says. "As a provider, it was really hard for me to collect from these high-deductible plans or to determine when you'd ever get paid."
