5 things you didn’t know about Ken Jennings
1. He spent 15 years in Korea and Singapore while growing up.
Ken was originally born in the United States but grew up overseas. The only American TV he could watch was on the Armed Forces Network which is where he began watching Jeopardy! religiously every day after school.
2. Ken graduated from Brigham Young University.
While attending BYU, he double-majored in English and computer science and was the captain of the quiz bowl team. Ken also met his wife, Mindy, while at BYU.
3. He was a contestant on Jeopardy! for 6 months straight.
Ken won 74 straight games before his reign ended on the Nov. 30 show where he got stumped by trivia about H&R Block. He won $2.52 million total, breaking the American game show records for number of games won and the amount of money won.
4. Ken is a best-selling author.
He has written four books for adults, Brainiac, Ken Jennings’s Trivia Almanac, Ken Maphead, and Because I Said So! He has also written a childrens book series called Junior Genius Guides, which contains fun projects and facts.
5. He co-hosts a podcast called Omnibus.
Ken’s podcast explains and explores human history and culture that may have been lost or forgotten. Episodes cover a wide variety of topics, including exploring Einstein's brain, discussing the Eggnog Riot, and discussing the history of the Doomsday clock.
