Boeing recently made its largest pension contribution in over a decade -- but it did it in company shares.
Boeing Co., the worlds largest planemaker, will freeze pensions for 68,000 nonunion employees and executives, shifting benefit payments to a 401(k)-style plan, as it works to cut costs.
The deal would freeze pensions starting in 2016, a term that Ray Conner, who heads Boeings commercial airplane unit, had said was non-negotiable.
