The Florida ruling is a gamechanger for those alleging discrimination claims against Miami-Dade employers.

The company allegedly raked in hundreds of millions of dollars for prescription medications by inflating prices.

According to the criminal complaint for his Dec. 11, 2008 arrest, Madoff confessed to his sons on the previous day that his business was a "giant Ponzi scheme."

Consumers say they were led to believe they were buying comprehensive coverage but instead received limited benefit indemnity plans.

"And then to learn they wouldn't let their employees wear masks because they thought it would scare off their customers," Michael Levine said. "That's just very troubling."

The dispute stemmed from alleged rampant fraud of the Gilead's Advancing Medication Assistance Program, which provides free medication for uninsured people.

The case was among the first of at least 50 pending around the country raising the same issue.
